Research & Development

In order to produce pure organic tea without involvement of any chemical substances, it is
essential to:

1. Produce our own natural fertilizer
2. Study the real natural pest control methods
3. Use the real natural weed control methods

1.1 Production of Natural Fertilizer
Necessary nutrients for tea trees are:
     – protein – nitrogen
     – chlorophyll – oil
All these nutrients are found in the whole plant of groundnut. However, two more nutrients which
are essential for the growing of tea plants are, potassium and phosphorous which are found in
coconut husk and rice bran. Hence, for the production of solid natural fertilizer, groundnut,
coconut husk and rice bran will be mixed and left for six weeks while liquid fertilizer is produced
from egg and African worm castings, etc.
Remarks For the production of natural fertilizer, groundnuts of about 2 months old are crushed
and fermented in the compost factory before being used as natural fertilizer. These several steps
actually waste time and workforce while the investment cost is also quite high. In 2017, the in situ
fertilizing system is being developed to reduce the time of labor, production and other expenses.

1.2 In Situ Fertilizing System
Plant groundnuts between the tea rows, let them fully grow
(approx. 10 – 12 weeks), then cut and crush groundnuts together
with their seeds, mix with coconut husk and rice bran, loosen the
soil and leave it for 8 weeks, groundnuts will turn to be tea
plants’ natural fertilizer.
